Sea Exporters Should Look to Air

Dear Member,

The Airfreight Export Council of NSW (AFEC) is urging Seacargo exporters, frustrated by the shortage of container space, to explore the use of airfreight.

According to Malcolm Bush the Executive officer of AFEC, there has been a significant recent increase in imports and whilst the shipping lines have been forced to return empties to the high demand Asian ports, creating a lack of container capacity, there was  surplus airfreight space on both the passenger and freighter airlines.

Therefore it might be a very good time to talk with your Sea Export Customers to see if you can negotiate some good rates for cargo that might suit the airfreight mode and assist in moving the seacargo backlog in the short-term.

AFEC are also urging over 3000 exporters to call freight forwarders and explore these opportunities and will also be promoting this suggestion through LLDCN.  So you should expect some calls !

Thanks and regards ,
