Important information on the transition of Sydney International Freight Terminals
Following full acquisition of Australian air Express (AaE) in November 2012, Qantas Freight has now integrated the majority of AaE’s international terminal operations.
Sydney is the final international port pending cutover, and will commence the transition from Thursday 22 August 2013. We will complete the cutover in a phased approach (focusing on imports first) to minimise customer airline and agent impact.
Please find below further information relating to the Sydney international transition.
Qantas Freight Terminal 3 The AaE International terminal at Link Road, Sydney has been rebranded and is now referred to as the Qantas Freight Terminal 3 (T3) facility.
One IT operating system On Thursday 22 August we will cut over Sydney T3’s IT operating system, and all international cargo will be handled under the Qantas Freight i-cargo application.
Over time this will give us a single view of customer service, ULD control and transhipment/interline enquiries.
In line with this system change all international tracking will be available via qantasfreight.com tracking tools. The previous AaE Webtrack application will no longer be available for any international tracking. Please register on qantasfreight.com to track your international master waybill data capture (MAWB).
Import Collection On Monday 9 September all import front counter service activity will be consolidated in the T1 facility. Agents will be able to utilise the innovative Express Check kiosks to expedite the collection of import cargo.
Once we have consolidated our front counter we will streamline the release of cargo under the following guidelines, using the Ipad delivery application on forklifts at T3:
- ULDs via T1
- Loose cargo via T1 and/or T3
By the end of September 13 we aim to phase out the use of Qantas Freight’s T2 off-airport facility.
Export Acceptance Following the successful transition of import cargo, in early October 2013 we will start to streamline the export process between T1 and T3. This will include a review of our export document acceptance, ULD acceptance and loose build up processes.
