“Customs Broking Experience Assessment”
The ACBPS recently advised that a number of organisations may conduct an examination that assists applicants who have completed (or been exempted from) the approved course of
study in demonstrating that they have the knowledge required of a customs broker. The CEO may take into account the successful completion of such an examination when assessing whether an applicant has
acquired experience
that fits them to be a customs broker.
myfreightcareer is one such organisation and we are pleased to advise that enrolments are now open for our first
“
Customs Broking Experience Assessment”,
to be held on
Saturday 23 November 2013.
If you would like to enrol in, or find out more about our Assessment, please email
mail@myfreightcareer.com.au and
we will be happy to provide further information to assist you.
Please note that ACN2013/21
provides the following guidance to applicants for a customs broker licence.
In assessing an application for a customs broker licence, section 183CC of the Customs Act 1901 requires the Chief Executive Officer of Customs (the CEO) to consider whether the
applicant:
- is a person of integrity
- has completed a course of study approved by the CEO, and
- has
acquired experience that, in the opinion
of the CEO, fits the applicant to be a customs broker.
We strongly recommend that aspiring Customs Brokers familiarise themselves with the content of this ACN.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) have advised via "Notice to Industry 28/2013" that they will no longer provide NCCC Scheme Accreditation training

Persons interested in becoming accredited under the NCCC Scheme must successfully complete the "Carry Out Quarantine Procedures (TLIA4051A)" Unit of Competency, which is currently
delivered by myfreightcareer as part of our nationally recognised Customs Brokers Course.
