Update on port activities over the Australia Day holiday period

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Port Botany continues to handle large volumes of containers for Sydney, with almost 160,000 TEUs processed in December. Sydney Ports continues to monitor the economic conditions both in Australia and overseas to ensure that port activities support current operating conditions.

While we have all been working together to ensure the port continues to operate efficiently with minimal delays to both waterside and landside operations, there have recently been instances when truck queues and waiting times have been longer than desirable.

Over the next 5 days, the port is scheduled to handle 35 container vessel movements, with 19 of these movements on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Sydney Ports is seeking the support of industry by maximising your use of a number of initiatives which are provided by the port:

Your help in assisting with landside port operations over the Australia Day holiday period is appreciated.

Please feel free to give any of your contacts at Sydney Ports a call if you have any questions.

Thank you and regards
